About the Figueroas

Jose and Darcy Figueroa were married in June 2004 and celebrated the birth of their daughter Isabel Grace in January 2011.   Jose currently serves as the co-pastor of ICC (Iglesia Comunitaria Cristiana).  They have lived in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, the oldest, continually- inhabited city in the Americas, since August 2009.

Jose was born to Puerto Rican parents in Chicago and dedicated his life to Christ in December of 1999.  As a result of his life experiences growing up in Chicago, he has a passion for serving youth and men struggling with addictions and the influences of gangs and street violence.  Jose holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Indiana Institute of Technology and a Masters in Intercultural Studies from Moody Bible Institute and Graduate School in Chicago.

Darcy was raised on a dairy farm in Wisconsin and made the decision to give her life to Christ when she was a young girl.  She was drawn towards a life of cross-cultural Christian service since her early teens and pursued training towards that end by attending and graduating from Baptist Bible College of Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania, in 1998.  Darcy worked in the field of Human Resources for 10 years before transitioning to full-time Christian service at Iglesia Comunitaria Cristiana (ICC) in Santo Domingo in 2009.

“Seek justice, encourage the oppressed.  Defend the cause of the fatherless, plead the case of the widow.”  Isaiah 1:17
